The CRA Hall of Fame honors those who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, leadership or contribution to the sport of racquetball in the State of Colorado. The award recognizes years of excellence or high performance in one or more of the following areas:
ABILITY: Athlete candidates will have demonstrated exceptional playing ability and skill over a period of at least 10 years; with a required minimum of 5 years of achievement specific to Colorado competition. All documented State, Regional and National finishes should be included in nomination materials, with equal consideration given to singles and doubles titles earned in both indoor and outdoor venues.
LEADERSHIP: Contributor nominees will have given generously of their time, talent and resources to support the advancement of racquetball in the State of Colorado. Long years of running tournaments, conducting leagues, coaching, giving lessons, promoting the sport at the club level, and CRA Board service will be considered in this category, along with dedicated sponsors and donors of facilities, products, prize monies and event funding.
Nominees must be at least 35 years old, with a minimum of 10 years of documented achievement in either category, of which at least 5 years of any resume is based in Colorado racquetball activities.
PROCESS: Nominations submitted for Hall of Fame committee review will be accepted between September 1 & December 1 of each year. For a nominee to be considered, a narrative summary and detailed resume of accomplishments must be presented as an email attachment to the Chairperson of the Committee, no later than December 1. Notice will be published and directed to the racquetball community during the nomination period, providing an overview of the process and deadline.
PROCEDURE: The Hall of Fame Committee operates under the auspices of the CRA Board of Directors, who will appoint the Chairperson and Committee members. In January the HOF Committee will meet to discuss and review all submitted nominations to determine which candidates, if any, should be placed on the HOF ballot.
Candidates selected for Hall of Fame consideration will be named to a HOF ballot, which will be delivered to a larger voting group to choose final inductees. In March, all returned ballots will be tallied, and a 75% approval of those returns will be required for induction to the CRA Hall of Fame. Generally, formal induction ceremonies will take place at the annual CRA State Championships, along with public announcements and recognition.
